We are looking forward to participating in the 12th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), taking place from 4–8 November 2024 in Cairo, Egypt, under the theme: "It All Starts at Home: Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities."

Our networking event will focus on community-led post-disaster reconstruction and its role in revitalising urban ‘living heritage.’ Drawing on case studies from India, Nepal, and Türkiye, we will explore how the concept of living heritage—encompassing both tangible and intangible elements such as places, practices, and memories—can facilitate community mobilisation and centre community voices in reconstruction efforts.

This event is co-organised by ASF-UK, in partnership with Hatay Deprem Dayanışması, the Asian Coalition of Housing Rights, and the Community Architects Network, supported by IIED and The Bartlett Development Planning Unit of UCL. By bringing together these organisations, we aim to catalyse dialogue and mutual learning among diverse stakeholders involved in urban development, community-led planning, heritage preservation, and post-disaster recovery.
