We invite you to participate in the concluding event of the Change by Design Johannesburg workshop 2025, hosted by ASF-UK in collaboration with 1to1 – Agency of Engagement, the Asivikelane initiative, Inner City Federation, Inner City Resource Centre, Planact, SERI, and IIED.
This one-week workshop represents the final chapter in a series dedicated to developing practical approaches, methods, and tools for upgrading informally occupied buildings in the inner city, with a focus on promoting housing justice.
The workshop has brought together action-research volunteers from South Africa and around the world to explore potential strategies for upgrading and maintaining inner-city buildings and to evaluate how these strategies can work in practice in different contexts.
Final Event Details:
- Date: Friday, 24 January 2025
- Time: 2 – 4 pm
- Location: University of the Witwatersrand, School of Architecture & Planning, John Moffat Building Foyer, Ground Floor, Yale Road, Johannesburg GP 2000
Join local residents, grassroots leaders, NGOs, city officials, professionals, and academics as we share our findings and discuss future scenarios for upgrading. Together, we aim to inform and advocate for better policies and practices to improve living conditions in the inner city.
We look forward to your participation.
