Summary
As we prepare for our upcoming Change by Design workshop in Johannesburg in January 2025, we invite you to participate in an insightful webinar that will explore collaborative strategies for advancing the housing rights of residents in informally occupied buildings in inner-city Johannesburg and Cape Town. This session will examine the crucial roles of residents, community organisations, and NGOs in promoting the right to adequate housing through collaborative research and advocacy across the two cities.
Guiding Questions:
Over the last decade, what actions have residents, community organisations, and supporting NGOs taken to advance housing rights in informally occupied buildings in Johannesburg and Cape Town?
Which methods, tools, or strategies have been most effective in advancing the housing rights of residents in these buildings?
Looking ahead, how can research and advocacy better support residents and grassroots leaders in building on the progress made and addressing the ongoing challenges associated with informally occupied buildings in South African cities?
