Join us for the closing event of the forthcoming Change by Design Johannesburg workshop, hosted by ASF-UK together with 1to1 – Agency of Engagement, SERI, and IIED, in collaboration with the Inner City Forum, Inner City Resource Centre, Planact, and partners in the Asivikalene initiative.

This one-week workshop is the third in a series of collaborative engagements as part of ASF-UK’s Change by Design programme. It will bring together a diverse group of action-research volunteers from South Africa and other parts of the world to address some of the housing challenges facing inner-city Johannesburg. The focus will be on exploring the potential of repairing and maintaining inner-city buildings to provide affordable housing for low-income groups.

The final event of the workshop will be a gathering of diverse stakeholders including local residents, grassroots leaders, NGOs, city officials, professionals, and academics. During the event, we will present our ongoing work in this area and discuss potential ways to repair and maintain informally occupied buildings in the inner city.

Date and time: Friday 26 April, 2 – 4 pm.

Location: University of the Witwatersrand, School of Architecture & Planning, Jhon Moffat Building Foyer - Ground Floor, Yale Road, Johannesburg GP 2000
